The 2023 vintage was marked by a cool summer, coastal influences, and afternoon fog, which led to extended hang time, contributing to remarkable flavor complexity while maintaining freshness. Vibrant citrus and stone fruit with subtle tropical undertones on the nose. Medium natural acidity, crisp structure, refined mineral character on the palate - a lovely representation of the van Z estate vineyard. 102 cases handcrafted.

The 2022 vintage began with a chilly, but dry winter. Spring brought rains and warmer temperatures which prompted early bud break followed by a heatwave in September. Fortunately, we harvested before the heat spike, resulting in a picture-perfect result. Caramelized sugar and baked apple on the nose. The palate shows medium acidity, and a beautiful round texture. Pleasant, lingering and perfectly balanced.  86 cases handcrafted.

2019 was a classic vintage for the Napa Valley. A wet winter and cool Spring delayed bud break, while a warm, uneventful growing season allowed for a slow, even maturity. Energy, freshness, and balance characterize the 2019 vintage. Already showing intricate layers of complexity, it also boasts the structure to cellar for years to come. Oak toast, clove spice, black cherry, blackberry, and currant aromas on the nose. Round, melted tannins, dark, complex black and red fruit. Incredibly long, lingering finish. A great vintage that resulted in a superb example of a rich and opulent delight. With only 146 cases produced, this handcrafted Cabernet Sauvignon is a lovely representation of small-lot, artisanal winemaking.

2017 was a very challenging vintage, marked by extreme heat around Labor Day and horrific fires in October. Fortunately, the van Z vineyard in St. Helena avoided both these disasters, because it is dry-farmed and picked relatively early. 2015 was an intense vintage - the third year of extreme drought which made for very low soil moisture resulting in restricted berry set and low crop yields. Harvest comes early to this vineyard because dry-farming leads to sugars accumulating rapidly at the end of the season.  The 2015 is everything that a true Cab lover is looking for: ripe with roasted dark fruit, cigar, integrated oak, and light spice with pronounced acid. 88 cases handcrafted.
